May 25, 2012 Fix the seat motor on a Infiniti Qx4 or a Nissan Pathfinder, and most other cars. RThe button to move the driver seat front and back quit working. Word from Infiniti dealer: 2006 G35 does not have a motor or gear replacement - have to. In my Maxima the issue was the switch itself, not gears or motors.

I have a 2004 Maxima SL (about 63,000 miles), with basically all optionsexcept the moonroof. Last week I found that when I tried to move thedriver's power seat forward, it moved on the right side, but not on theleft. I couldn't see anything mechanical obstructing it. I brought it intothe Nissan dealer, and they said they had seen problem with some cable orsomething not feeding power to one of the motors on both Maximas andPathfinders. They checked my vehicle, and this is what they found. Unfortunately, theyexplained to me that they had no way to replace just that cable, and so Ihad to buy a complete 'seat slide/motor kit' (PN 87451-5Z50A).

Thiswas going to cost over $420!! And with the labor, tax, etc., the total billwould come to well over $600!!This seat problem was discovered the day I returned home after havinganother repair with very disproportionate cost. The turn signals andheadlights weren't working intermittently. The repair required a $221'Controller Unit' (PN 284B7-7Y02A). I authorized this, and afterinstallation, they said they also needed to replace the 'Switch Assembly'(PN 25540-AM620), for an additional $99.96.
So it cost me $426 for a coupleof electronic glitches, which was infuriating enough.I was outraged, as you might imagine, and asked him to do nothing yet aboutthe power seat problem. I called Nissan Customer Service, and explained thesituation. I explained all of this, indicating that I had been happilyusing Nissan vehicles continuously since 1990 (had a 300ZX Twin Turbo forquite a while!), and was generally pretty happy with their reliability, withrepairs being at a reasonable cost when necessary. But the cost to fix acouple of minor (to me) electrical functions, at over $1000 was simplyoutrageous. They basically refused to do anything about it, and didn't seemto care when I indicated that this would likely be my last Nissan vehicle,if this is the type of reliability and repair cost I can expect from Nissan.Obviously, I needed to vent somewhat, but I'm also looking for any practicalsuggestions about how I might get a cost-effective fix for the power seatproblem.
Any help appreciated. HelloThe only thing I can suggest is trying to replaced the motor your self. It is actually easy if you follow the instruction step by step. Here is the bulletin:Thanks for the reply and suggestion. The problem is the cost of the seat slide itself - $427.86!! The labor/tax the dealership would charge is reasonable, it's the part itself that's outrageous.Right around the same time I posted here, I had found that TSB (thanks for the link, though).
What really frosts me is the cost of this part. If you look at the TSB, it shows the diagram and part numbers. I had previously wrongly assumed that they wanted to replace the entire (left/front/whatever) mechanism for the power seat.
This shows that the part number is just for the single left side. How in the world can they justify charging $427.86 for a part like this??? A little motor and track!! This isn't a Mercedes Benz!
